Terms of service

By creating an account or using the Datante service, you agree to these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the service. These Terms form a binding contract between you and Datante (“we,” “our,” or “us”).

Datante provides a home network privacy service that routes DNS queries from your router through a ControlD profile configured to block trackers, advertisements, and telemetry from IoT and smart-home devices. The service includes a web dashboard, router setup guide, and subscription management tools.

The service depends on third-party infrastructure including ControlD (DNS resolution), Supabase (data storage), and Stripe (payment processing). We are not responsible for outages or changes in those services.

You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into a contract to use Datante. By using the service, you represent that you meet these requirements.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at support@datante.com if you believe your account has been compromised.

You may not share, sell, or transfer your account to another person. One account is intended for one household.

The service is billed monthly at $9.00 USD (or the current published price at the time of subscription). Payments are processed by Stripe. By providing a payment method, you authorize us to charge that method on a recurring monthly basis.

Subscriptions automatically renew each month until cancelled. You may cancel at any time through your account dashboard; your access continues until the end of the paid billing period. We do not offer prorated refunds for unused time within a billing period, except as required by law.

Prices may change with at least 30 days’ notice. Continued use after a price change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the new price.

You agree not to:

• Use the service for any unlawful purpose.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, circumvent, or interfere with the service or its underlying infrastructure.
• Resell or commercially redistribute the service without our written permission.
• Use the service to facilitate harassment, abuse, or harm to others.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms without notice or refund.

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The service may be unavailable during maintenance windows or due to circumstances beyond our control (e.g., outages at ControlD, Supabase, or other infrastructure providers). We will communicate planned downtime when possible.

All content, software, and trademarks on datante.com are owned by or licensed to Datante. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our written consent.

The service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will block every tracker or that it is free from errors.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Datante shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, loss of revenue, or any damages arising from your use of or inability to use the service. Our total liability to you for any cause shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 3 months preceding the claim.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
